  • As a project management volunteer, you’ll assist in coordinating externally funded projects alongside our project management team, member organisations, and various partners. You'll work on initiatives that address urgent global issues, including health and exercise, physical activity in education, sports for disadvantaged groups, urban sports facilities, inclusion of refugees through sport, youth training, and active aging. Explore recent ISCA projects and initiatives to see the positive changes you can help create.
  • As a communications volunteer, you'll work closely with our team to help create and share engaging content across various platforms. Your tasks will include supporting our social media channels, helping manage websites for ISCA and related projects, and assisting in promoting key events like the MOVE Congress. ISCA serves as the National Coordinating Body for the European Week of Sport in Denmark, held annually in September/October, so you can expect to engage with the #BeActive Campaign during this time. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to other exciting tasks and projects based on your skills and interests. This role is ideal if you're passionate about communications and eager to make a positive impact through physical activity.
  • As a membership and fundraising volunteer, you’ll be part of an exciting and dynamic team. Your role will involve a mix of tasks, from building relationships with potential members to supporting our fundraising efforts. You'll dive into research, assist with early-stage project development, and even share your own ideas with partners. With opportunities to write and contribute creatively, each day brings something new, keeping you engaged and constantly learning. Each year, volunteers – or Youth Officers – come to Copenhagen to volunteer in the Project Management, Communication or Membership and Fundraising areas of the ISCA team. Our volunteers work in and across teams on, among other things, logistical aspects of project meetings, communication campaigns and grant application writing!

What does volunteering with ISCA mean?

It is a volunteering opportunity for young people that is part of the EU-funded European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Each year, Youth Officers come to Copenhagen for a year of volunteering in Project Management, Communication, or Membership and Fundraising in our non-profit grassroots sports organisation. Volunteers get a plenty of chances to learn new skills, meet people and travel around Europe while at the same time contributing to the development of the NGO sector through our projects.


What is ESC?

ESC stands for the European Solidarity Corps, which is a European funded programme that offers opportunities for young people to gain work experience, live abroad, enhance solidarity, provide informal learning and make concrete contributions to society. ISCA has been an EVS/ESC host organisation since 2001 and has hosted over80 volunteers and trainees from more than 20 countries!


How long does the ISCA Volunteering Programme last?

The programme’s duration is usually 1 year (12 months)


What is covered by the ISCA volunteer programme?

  • You are covered by a complementary insurance
  • You can access a range of support services such as linguistic support and training
  • Your basic costs will be covered (your travel to and from the project, accommodation)
  • You will also receive a laptop for work-related tasks and a local SIM-card
  • You’ll also receive a monthly allowance for personal expenses and food according to the ESC volunteering funding
  • Addition to that we’ll cover some of your cultural and sports activities during your stay in Denmark
  • You’ll receive a bicycle to get around the bike-friendly city of Copenhagen
  • If you have specific needs (e.g. a disability), these costs may also be covered

Who can apply?

Young people aged 18 to 30 who reside in EU Erasmus+ Programme countries or Partner countries are eligible to apply. For a list of eligible countries and an overview of the ESC programme, visit this page.
