MOVE Week webinar 2: Public Space and Physical Activity During and After COVID-19

By
25/05/2020

What are the challenges and opportunities for cities in a post-COVID reality? How can cities support safe participation in leisure, physical and sport activity in the realm of the city and public spaces? Is the fear factor something that will stop people from being physically active in public spaces? Is COVID-19 the new best promoter of physical activity? Have people's attitudes towards the everyday use of public space changed and how?

The second MOVE Week webinar on Wednesday 3 June at 17:00 CEST aims to answer the above and many other questions we all have.

Our expert speakers from world-renowned and award-winning organisations Gehl, Placemaking Europe and GAME will share examples – both good and bad – of tackling the need for a "new normal" in cities. We will discuss the opportunities created by the COVID-19 lockdown regulations.

We will zoom in on the following topics:

  • The Human Right to MOVE: Why we need to make sure that people keep exercising and have the opportunity to be physically active.
  • The challenges in front of cities to secure the safety and health of their citizens by introducing new physical distancing regulations and securing spaces and places where people can be physically active.
  • How cities are different for people from different backgrounds, and we will discuss how to tackle the significant inequality in health for those groups.
  • How people’s attitudes towards the everyday use of public spaces is changing, or not.
  • Looking into the future of cities.

ISCA is set to host this free webinar at GoTo Meeting on Wednesday 3 June from 17:00-18:45 CEST. We hope to see you there! Sign up here to join in.
