New ISCA member the International Wheelchair Cricket Association (IWCA), based in Pakistan (Karachi), hosted a 4-day training camp at the end of November, gathering a group of wheelchair cricketers from all over Pakistan. The training, called “Camp for Champ”, was held with the purpose of selecting a team to represent the country in Bangladesh for the first International Wheelchair Cricket Match.
IWCA founding president Zeeshan Taqi declared: “Our mission is to ensure the disabled people confined in wheelchairs are facilitated with maximum of opportunities to participate in sporting and recreational involvement.”
The training was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Denmark, Mr. Jesper Møller Sørensen, who met all the players. During his opening speech, he congratulated the International Wheelchair Cricket Association for becoming ISCA members. He even managed to fit in a game before leaving.
The first tour of the match in Bangladesh will take place in late December. Good luck to the selected team!
