Alberto Aguilera Hall (Madrid) at the Comillas Pontifical University hosted a new transnational meeting of the European IDI4SPORT project on March 11th, 12th and 13th. Participants reviewed the status of the project, worked on its final phase, and prepared for the next transnational project meeting, which will take place in Skopje (North Macedonia) in October.

Work focused on the communication plan to maximize the impact and visibility of the project at the national and European level, its sustainability in the short, medium and long term and a final report with recommendations for regulatory bodies at the national and European level.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 12th, the project partners went to the High Council of Sports where they were received by representatives of the Council and the Spanish Paralympic Committee and visited the High-Performance Center where top-level Spanish athletes live and train.

France Education International is the entity leading #IDI4SPORT (Inclusion and Disability in and through sport), an initiative within the framework of the European Commission's Erasmus+ programme.

It is a three-year sport project that seeks to promote the practice of sport by children with disabilities with the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games as a background legacy. It is designed to promote social inclusion, increase the participation of children with disabilities and reduce the difficulties they encounter, creating inclusive environments that promote equity and equality. It is aimed at teachers, sports coaches and primary and secondary school children.

The main milestones of the project are:

  • The project will collect resources and data on sport accessibility for children with disabilities in partner countries to be presented on an online report.
  • From there, a tailored training pathway will be created for teachers, sports coaches and educational staff in multiple formal and non-formal universes: schools, sports clubs, and associations.
  • They will participate in the design and evaluation of the training, which will be adapted to national educational contexts and environments.
  • It will enable them to discover and appropriate new pedagogical tools, improving their skills and competences.
  • The digital training, open to public consultation, will be implemented with children in different educational and sport structures.
  • In line with the European Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030, a "Generation 2030" label will be created to recognize and value the participants.
