We’re thrilled to announce the launch of CRC Sport, an innovative initiative dedicated to protecting children’s rights within the world of sport. This groundbreaking project draws from the European Union’s Work Plan for Sport (2021-2024) and aims to establish a safer, more inclusive environment for children involved in sport across Europe.

Why CRC Sport? Sport is a powerful platform for children’s development, helping them grow, learn, and flourish. However, to fully harness this potential, sports organisations must enhance their capacity to deliver safe, inclusive, and rights-based environments. CRC Sport seeks to address this by focusing on how sports activities are organised and delivered, ensuring that children’s rights are safeguarded at every level.

Three Core Pillars of Action For the first time, a transnational partnership will tackle safeguarding children’s rights in sport through three key areas:

  1. Sports Delivery: Ensuring the way sports activities are conducted prioritises children’s rights and safety.
  2. Organisational Practices: Building the necessary measures for sports organisations to adopt a rights-based approach to their operations.
  3. Capacity Building: Enhancing the knowledge and skills of coaches and sports leaders to ensure they are fully equipped to support and protect young athletes.

Objectives CRC Sport’s mission is clear: to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive sports environment for children. The project will focus on achieving the following objectives:

  1. Reduce Rights Violations: Proactively reduce instances of children’s rights violations in sport.
  2. Strengthen Safeguarding: Build stronger, more capable sports organisations that can safeguard children effectively.
  3. Empower Coaches & Leaders: Improve the skills and knowledge of coaches and sports leaders to better protect and support children.
  4. Enhance Education: Enrich sports-related degree programmes to better address the issues of children’s rights and safeguarding.
  5. Promote Understanding: Foster a common understanding of children’s rights in sport.
  6. Provide Guidance: Develop clearer, more comprehensive guidance for grassroots sports organisations to implement effective safeguarding measures.

By focusing on safeguarding, CRC Sport will help sports organisations create environments where children can thrive, learn, and grow with dignity. Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative project as we work together to build a better future for young athletes.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of a movement that is reshaping the world of sport for the better!
