The IDI4SPORT: Inclusion and disabilities in and through sport project is gathering examples of best practice in designing sport activities for young people with disabilities. In doing so, the EU project is gaining support from Olympic and Paralympic athletes, the Greek Paralympic Committee, the Spanish Higher Sports Council, as well as Thierry Terret, former rector and ministerial delegate for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The project is promoting more inclusive sport for children with disabilities against the backdrop of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Aimed at teachers, sports coaches, and children in primary and secondary schools, the project is focused on social inclusion, increasing the participation of children with disabilities in sport and reducing the difficulties they face, as well as creating inclusive environments that promote fairness and equality.

The main idea of the project is to observe and compare, at the European level, how sport is adapted for young people with disabilities. The best practices will be used as inspiration to create an adapted training pathway that raises awareness among teachers and sports coaches.

The project will bring together actors from formal and non-formal education: teachers, schools, sports coaches, sport clubs and associations. Qualitative and quantitative indicators will be used to assess the accessibility of sporting activities among the young people with disabilities.

The project started at the beginning of 2023 with the collation of good examples of sport for young disabled people aged from 10 to 20 years.
